Hollywood icon, Doris Day, has passed away at the age of 97

Doris Day has sadly passed away at the age of 97. The Doris Day Animal Foundation confirmed that the Hollywood actress died at her home in Camel Valley in California. The statement said that she had been "in excellent physical health for her age, until recently contracting a serious case of pneumonia". "She was surrounded by a few close friends as she passed," the statement continued. Doris Day made a name for herself in Hollywood after appearing in movies Calamity Jane and Pillow Talk. Considered a Hollywood icon, Doris racked up awards including three Grammy Hall of Fame awards and a Golden Globe lifetime achievement award. In 2004, she also got her very own star on the Hollywood walk of fame. Doris had one son, Terry, who sadly passed away in 2004. She is survived by a grandson, Ryan Melcher, and other family members.
