Imelda May to make acting debut in British comedy

A massive fair play to her.

Imelda May is set to make her acting debut later on this year in the sequel to the really quite charming Fisherman's Friends. The Dublin singer, best known for her rockabilly revival style of music and the absolute banger that is 'Johnny Got a Boom Boom,' will be appearing in the sequel to the UK comedy, Fisherman's Friends 2, later this year. May will be joining original stars of the feel good film, Daniels Mays, James Purefoy, Maggie Steed and others, as Aubrey Flynn. The first instalment of the comedy/musical saw a group of Cornish fishermen, signed by Universal Records, achieved a top 10 hit with their debut album of traditional sea shantie songs. The sequel to the movie will be called Fishermen's Friends 2: Bound for South Australia, and will follow the band as they take none other than Glastonbury. Born in the Liberties, May has been wowing Ireland and beyond with her incredible voice and songwriting skills since she first started performing in her teens. She has since performed at the Grammy Awards, sold out multiple arena shows, and even hosted her own music programme, The Imelda May Show. Sounds like a film about a band of singing fisherman is right up her street then. Fair play to her.
