Paul Mescal is notoriously private about his personal life

The actor is known for keeping his cards close to his chest, despite his Hollywood status and famous partner, Gracie Abrams.

Mescal has often spoken out about his desire to keep his personal life out of the spotlight, but recently gave Rolling Stone a glimpse into his future plans.

In a recent interview with the legendary publication, Mescal revealed that he would like to have children one day.

He said, "I would love to have a family. I’m not like, ‘I want them tomorrow,’ but I would love to have kids."

However, Mescal quickly shut down any further questions about his famous girlfriend, singer Gracie Abrams.

When asked about why they made their relationship public, Mescal replied:

"I don’t know how to answer that. I actually do have an answer, but everything to do with that is deeply precious to me and I don’t want to.… This isn’t … I don’t really … umm … I want to protect those things fundamentally."

This isn't the first time the Aftersun actor spoke out about protecting his personal life, as well as his loved ones.

Mescal explained to Harper's Bazaar that it's hard adjusting to his level of fame, especially when trying to keep some semblance of a personal life.

Speaking about reports and online rumours about his life, Mescal said it is devastating to read some of it.

“Eighty percent of that is palatable. And then 20 percent of it is devastating.

"The stuff that hurts is the personal stuff. It’s nobody else’s business and should never be commented on because it’s indecent. And it’s unkind. Honest answer, it makes me angry…  It’s the entitlement to the information that people expect that just drives me fucking mad."
