Maisie Williams just let some huge Game of Thrones news slip

Better mark the calendars.

It was recently announced that Game of Thrones' eighth (and final) season wouldn't be premiering until 2019. Many people began to question why HBO would delay the series for a year (after season seven finished airing in summer 2017)  - especially since the it's going to be just six episodes. But, as it turns out, the wait might not be a long as fans previously though. Maisie Williams, who has played Arya Stark on the HBO series since 2011, recently hinted at when fans can expect to see Game of Thrones once again. She told Metro:

"We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April [2019]. "That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes. There’s a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all. "We owe it to our audience and our fans to really do this final season to the best of our abilities."

She also opened up about how she wants her character's journey to end - and it comes down to one simple thing. She added:

"I’ve always said I wanted her to find peace. "The things that have been driving her through her story have been very bitter and twisted and aggressive. "I would love for Arya to find her true self again and let go of this anger and revenge that’s accompanied her on this journey. "I’d love for her to be happy."

It comes as HBO boss Casey Bloys admitted the reason for the delay was down to show runners David Benioff and Dan Weiss being "perfectionists". He told Entertainment Weekly:

“Here’s what I’ll tell you: They take the time they need to do the show at its highest level of quality. "As the show has gone on, it’s gotten bigger — big battle scenes, big special effects. “These things take time. Here’s the one thing I can assure you: Dan and Dave were not sitting around on a beach waiting to go back to work. "They’re perfectionists and this is the soonest it can come back at a level of quality that they are comfortable with.”
