The reality star is being praised for being so genuine and has surprised many viewers with her appearance on the show.

Many have admitted that they've completely changed their opinion about Maura since watching her on I'm A Celebrity.

One wrote: "I've completely changed my opinion of her. Thought she was another Love Island bimbo."

Maura Higgins reveals why she joined Love Island

Last night, Maura Higgins opened up about the reason why she entered Love Island in 2019.

The reality star explained that she was hesitant about joining Love Island because she really liked the guy she was seeing at the time.

She told her campmates: "So, I had a boyfriend at the time. This guy, I was like, 'Oh, I really like him'.

"And I was chatting to my bestie, and I was like, 'Yeah but like, I'm not going to break up with him to go on a reality TV show - I actually really like him'."

Her friend then asked if she could really trust her partner so Maura decided to go through his phone.

She continued: "And then she was like, 'But what if you turn it down and then he's up to no good?'. And I went, 'Well, would he be though?'.

"And she went, 'I don't know but you might need to find out', and I was like, 'Maybe I need to go through his phone'."

Maura added: "I had a plan and no word of a lie, when he went to the gym the next day I got his toothbrush and I filmed myself scrubbing in the verges, he had a dentist appointment that day!"

"I went in like a bull in a china shop because I was so angry about that whole thing," she added.
