Meghan and Harry to open up about ‘pressure and pain’ in new TV documentary this Sunday

It was a successful royal tour after months of negative press – and now fans will get to go behind the scenes with the stars of the show.

A new documentary about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's recent African tour is set to air on ITV1 this Sunday. Journalist Tom Bradby, who has worked closely with the royal family in the past (he got the exclusive interview with Prince William and Kate Middleton after their engagement in 2010) follows the couple closely as they travel through southern Africa across ten days. The documentary promises to show viewers the work Meghan and Harry do, as well as give them a glimpse at their private life.

"It was a journey but not always the one I was expecting," Tom says in the trailer. "The story of their time in Africa was of passion for their work, their private happiness and but also a world of pressure and pain behind the brave faces."

In a clip from the hour-long programme, Harry tells Tom that his mother's death in 1997 is still "a wound that festers" due to the pressure of public life. "I think being part of this family, and this role, and this job, every single time I see a camera, every single time I hear a click, every single time I see a flash, it takes me straight back. "In that respect ... it’s the worst reminder of her life as opposed to the best." Sounds like a must-watch for royal fans. Harry and Meghan: An African Journey airs on ITV1 at 9pm on Sunday.
