Meghan Markle broke royal protocol in the exact same way as Princess Diana and we just love it.

Today, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, visited Bristol for a number of royal engagements and spoke to well-wishers and fans who were waiting to greet them. Snow caused a number of schools to shut and Bristol Airport was also closed for the early part of the day but this didn't prevent the royal visit from going ahead. Videos of Meghan chatting and laughing with people are circulating online and one thing in particular really struck a chord. The 37-year-old removed her gloves so that she could properly shake hands with them with people and it has been noted that this is something Princess Diana always used to do. Meghan carried her gloves and even apologised to one person saying that her hands were cold. Princess Diana always used to do the same thing and a royal insider previously explained the thinking behind this in an interview with PEOPLE.

"She abandoned the royal protocol of wearing gloves because she liked to hold hands when visiting people or shake hands and have direct contact".

Diana was often referred to as the People's Princess and you can really see why as she liked to have human contact with the people she would meet and speak with. Queen Elizabeth always wears gloves for public appearances and royal engagements and so, it could be described as a break with royal protocol to avoid doing so. Despite this, we totally understand the reason why Diana would have decided to have skin-on-skin contact with the people she was meeting and it's lovely to see Meghan following in her footsteps.
