Meghan Markle paid tribute to Princess Diana at the Smart Works Collection launch

Meghan Markle paid tribute to Princess Diana yesterday [September 12] at the Smart Works Collection launch.

The Duchess of Sussex arrived at the event wearing two items from the collection, including a pair of black pants from Jigsaw and a blouse from her friend, Misha Nonoo. According to People, the mum-of-one paired the look with butterfly earrings - which the late Princess Diana had previously worn on a trip to Canada in 1986. Meghan also had a stack of bangles on one of her arms, including a cuff bracelet with stunning diamonds and blue stones that had once belonged to her late mother-in-law. Princess Diana had previously worn the piece while visiting the Lord Gage Centre for Old People, a Guinness Trust Home, in East London in 1990. The duchess had previously worn the earrings and the bracelet while she and Prince Harry were on a royal tour together last October. Earlier this summer, it was announced the Duchess of Sussex has teamed up with a number of leading retailers including Marks and Spencer, John Lewis and Jigsaw for the range. Misha Nonoo, one of Meghan's close friends, is the fourth brand coming on board and as fans of the Duchess will know, she regularly wears Misha's designs, most notably for one of her first public appearances with Prince Harry. The five piece capsule collection "will equip the Smart Works clients with the classic wardrobe pieces to help them feel confident as they mobilise back into the work space." In the caption for the post, Meghan thanked the brands for their support - as she explained why the launch was so important to her. She said:

“Since moving to the UK, it has been deeply important to me to meet with communities and organisations on the ground doing meaningful work and to try to do whatever I can to help them amplify their impact. "It was just last September that we launched the 'Together’ cookbook with the women of the Hubb Kitchen in Grenfell. Today, a year later, I am excited to celebrate the launch of another initiative of women supporting women, and communities working together for the greater good. "Thank you to the four brands who came together in supporting Smart Works on this special project - placing purpose over profit and community over competition. "In convening several companies rather than one, we’ve demonstrated how we can work collectively to empower each other - another layer to this communal success story, that I am so proud to be a part of."
