Meghan Markle is reportedly set to attend the Met Gala after stepping back from life as a senior royal.
The annual, star-studded celebration is due to take place on May 4 this year. The theme is About Time: Fashion and Duration, with those in attendance asked to “explore how clothes generate temporal associations that conflate past, present and future”. Virginia Woolf will serve as the 'ghost narrator' of the exhibition, according to The Met.
Meryl Streep, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Emma Stone are set to host the gala this year.
And, according to The Sun, the Duchess of Sussex had been invited to the Met Gala alongside Vogue editor Edward Enninful.
“The Met Gala is for the Who’s Who of showbusiness," an insider told the publication.
“Naturally Meghan was one of the first names on the guest list, and Edward’s team are excited that the two will go together. Meghan is keen to step out occasionally without Harry so that she can establish herself once more in Hollywood."
It comes a few days after Meghan Markle and Prince Harry issued a statement detailing their 'transition period' as they get ready to step back as senior members of the royal family.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex issued the update on their website late last month, and it including everything from their plan to launch a non-profit to the use of the word 'royal' in their plans.
"It is agreed that the commencement of the revised role of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will take effect Spring 2020 and undergo a 12 month review," the update began, before confirming that the couple will become privately-funded members of the royal family.
They will have permission to earn their own income and to pursue their own charitable interests.
"The preference of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex was to continue to represent and support Her Majesty The Queen albeit in a more limited capacity, while not drawing on theSovereign Grant," they explained.
"While there is precedent for other titled members of the Royal Family to seek employment outside of the institution, for The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, a 12-month review period has been put in place," the update continued.
