This moment on Love Island made the nation cringe HARD last night

Don't get us wrong, we love a birra' romance.

But sometimes, the over-calculated, over-thought gestures of affection, turn out to be very cringe or just plain awkward. And last night was a prime example of this. In a hope of appearing like an utter romantic, Charlie decided to ask Ellie to be his girlfriend but to do so, he created an elaborate plan that was all a bit much. He enlisted the help of the boys to distract Ellie, then with the help of Alex and Jack, he wrote: "BE MY GF?" on his chest and then asked Jack to spill a drink on his trousers so he could whip off his top and reveal the message to Ellie. Phew, that was tiring to type. So yes, the multi-millionaire catering heir asked Ellie to propose with a now-smudged message on his chest to which she replied "yes". The problem was, the whole ordeal was a little stiff and awkward and it's safe to say, fans has their thoughts on it.
