Nathan Carter apologises for “irresponsible” actions after breaching Covid guidelines

His family visiting from Liverpool had organised a barbecue for his birthday.

Police in the North attended the home of country singer Nathan Carter last week in relation to an alleged breach of Covid-19 regulations due to a family gathering.

Carter confirmed that police had attended his home last Friday after his family visiting from Liverpool had organised a barbecue for his birthday.

Carter added that they believed the gathering was within current restrictions in the North, however, they later realised it was not.

"I wish to confirm the attendance of the PSNI at my residence on Friday 28 May 2021," Carter said in a statement to JOE.ie on Wednesday.

"My family visiting from Liverpool had organised a barbecue for my birthday. They believed that this gathering was within the current Covid 19 restrictions in the North, however, it transpires that it was not."

The musician added that he fully apologises and realises "how irresponsible" the gathering was. "Given the restrictions, I realise how irresponsible these actions were and I fully apologise," he continued. Carter also confirmed that the organiser of the gathering has already paid the fine that was issued on the day. The PSNI has been contacted for comment.
