Palace source responds to reports that Meghan Markle will appear on Netflix wedding show

A Buckingham Palace insider has responded to reports that Meghan Markle will appear on a new Netflix wedding show.

I Do, Redo, described as a wedding disaster show, is set to be hosted by Jessica Mulroney, Meghan's BFF, and so speculation has been growing that Meghan might. make a guest appearance. Meghan is now based in Canada, where Jessica also lives, and so the rumour mill set into overdrive after it was discovered that the show would be filmed there. However, a palace source says this is "categorically untrue" in a statement released to several media publications. Jessica, a fashion and wedding stylist, will front I Do, Redo which offers couples the chance to have a second wedding after a disastrous first go. Although we're not likely to see Meghan and Harry on Netflix anytime soon, the streaming platform has expressed interest in working with the couple. When asked if Netflix would like to feature the famous pair, the site's chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, apparently said "who wouldn't be interested? Yes, sure". We imagine the ratings for a programme of this nature would go through the roof. There has always been a huge degree of interest in the royal couple but even more so since they announced their decision to step down as senior royals. This came as a shock to other members of the royal family and major talks ensued, culminating in both Meghan and Harry dropping their HRH titles and giving up access to public funds. They have said they will pay back the money used to renovate their UK home, Frogmore Cottage, and they also retain their personal patronages, with the blessing of the Queen. "The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are grateful to Her Majesty and the Royal Family for their ongoing support as they embark on the next chapter of their lives. As agreed in this new arrangement, they understand that they are required to step back from Royal duties, including official military appointments. They will no longer receive public funds for Royal duties. With The Queen’s blessing, the Sussexes will continue to maintain their private patronages and associations. While they can no longer formally represent The Queen, the Sussexes have made clear that everything they do will continue to uphold the values of Her Majesty. The Sussexes will not use their HRH titles as they are no longer working members of the Royal Family. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have shared their wish to repay Sovereign Grant expenditure for the refurbishment of Frogmore Cottage, which will remain their UK family home. Buckingham Palace does not comment on the details of security arrangements. There are well established independent processes to determine the need for publicly-funded security. This new model will take effect in the Spring of 2020".
