Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan avoid awkward reunion at Met Gala

Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan split in December

The singer and actor made their debut as a couple at the 2024 Met Gala, but ended their relationship just months later in December.

A year after their debut, the Espresso singer and Irish actor attended the event separately.

Carpenter stunned in a custom Louis Vuitton bodysuit with a sweeping train. Keoghan wore a black Valentino suit with a bejewelled collar and sleeves.

This is the first joint event the stars have attended since their relationship ended last December.

The couple ended their on-and-off relationship because they wanted to focus on their careers.

A source told People: “They are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break.”

However, other sources claimed the Taste singer grew tired of Keoghan's lifestyle.

An insider said, "He has always been a party animal, and Sabrina, 25, was fed up with his antics. She is soaring in the charts and is putting herself first as she gears up for her tour next month."

A source close to Keoghan defended the actor and stressed that their relationship ended because of the pair's busy schedules.

They told US Weekly that Keoghan was "very devoted to her happiness, but they're at different places in their lives."

They also said Carpenter's touring schedule has been a challenge.

"It's been challenging for their relationship since she started going on tour and has been gone a lot. Their schedules were not aligning."

"All the time spent apart, it was hard to maintain a relationship amid her career exploding."
