Selena Gomez has gotten candid about what she is looking for in a relationship. While usually tight-lipped about her romantic life, the Lose You To Love Me singer has opened up about her relationship needs. With the release of her newest song, Single Soon, climbing the charts, Selena outlined her most desired traits for a partner as well as her non-negotiables. Speaking at the SiriusXM Hits 1 LA event recently, the Murders in the Building actress addressed the lyrics in verse two of her newest song about being 'a little high maintenance.' "I think I have standards. And I think I live in a world right now where boys confuse standards with high maintenance," she began. "But the line was really fun because I’m not ashamed to say, ‘I actually require x, y, and z for you to be with me.’ So in a way, it was just meant to be for the attitude of the song. And that’s genuinely how I feel."

Elaborating on those traits, Selena has a few markers that a potential partner needs to be able to meet. "I mean, you've got to be cool, man. Not cool in the sense that people think you’re cool. You just gotta be nice and like, please make me laugh, and also just be good to my family and people around you." Here, here. The singer's last public relationship was an on-off one with Justin Bieber, which ended in 2018. This summer, there were also heard whispers that the Calm Down singer was romantically linked with Zayn Malik for a short period of time.
