Yet now she has promptly taken a step forward just 24 hours after she made her big announcement.
In all fairness now, Selena did have something special to share her new cooking video with celeb chef Gordon Ramsay.
On her Instagram Stories, the actress shared a glimpse from the video, writing: "Gordon Ramsay stepped into my kitchen and showed me how to make an amazing breakfast burger."
In the clip, the two could be seen laughing and chatting as they prepared what looked like a delicious breakfast.
Just the day beforehand Selena had shared an adorable video of boyfriend Benny Blanco playing with kids and writing: "I'm off social media for a while. I'm focusing on what really matters."
The actress is no stranger to taking a break from posting when she needs it, yet still, some people were less than impressed with her actions.
"She's an attention seeker," tweeted one person while another added, "I love Selena Gomez but god damn she’s annoying".
Ryanair even joined in on the roast sharing a picture of the star and her latest post with the caption: "If 'I’m never flying Ryanair ever again' was a person."

Despite all the slagging, Selena appeared to be in high spirits as she stepped out for the latest launch from her company Rare Beauty, unveiling the Find Comfort Body Collection in Beverly Hills.
She looked stunning as she posed for the cameras dressed in a chic white suit with a coat draped over her shoulders.
