Sydney Sweeney wears Angelina Jolie’s iconic Oscars dress 20 years later

The gown, which was created by the American designer Marc Bouwer, originally first saw the spotlight when Jolie wore the number back in 2004.

It may have been two decades later but the dress clearly withstood the test of time as Sydney looked anything but outdated as she posed for the cameras.

Taking the risk to repeat, the 26-year-old delivered a Marilyn Monroe-like look with her plunging blonde locks cropped into a sultry bob.

The old Hollywood vision continued throughout the Marc Bouwer piece, which featured a glossy ivory finish, plummeting halter neck bodice, and soft train.

Paying homage to Angelina, Sydney styled the dress with a satin sheath that hung around her wrists and draped along the backs of her legs.

The Euphoria star even decided to make a similar jewellery choice to the OG look, wearing a dramatic layered necklace to tie everything together.

Angelina chose the piece for the 76th Academy Awards where she presented New Zealand director Peter Jackson with the Oscar for Best Art Direction for  The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. 

The flick made Oscars history that night with an 11-category sweep, picking up every award it was nominated for. 

Sydney wasn't the only star to opt for a vintage find on Oscars night.

Jennifer Lawrence arrived at the after-party wearing an archival Givenchy dress from the autumn/winter 1996 collection by John Galliano, while Carey Mulligan walked the red carpet at the Oscars ceremony wearing a recreation of a Balenciaga gown from the 1950s.

It seems like the stars are all for out with the new and in with the old this year.
