This is the MAJOR thing you probably missed from the royal Christmas card

Well...

Okay so we had a pretty exciting morning! Members of the British royal family revealed their annual Christmas cards, and they're just lovely. Meghan and Harry showed of their first card as a married couple, revealing a precious snap from their wedding. But let's face it, the Cambridge family were the real stars of the Christmas card stakes. Kensington Palace's Instagram released the Christmas cards this morning. The Cambridge family card showed William, Kate, George, Charlotte and little Louis all posing together outside. Dressed in pretty casual attire, the family all looked very naturally and lovely. However, there was one particular thing that really stood out in the image... Prince George was NOT wearing shorts! A major deal folks. The prince was snapped wearing a pair of full length jeans, along with wellies. Rustic. The young royal has never been photographed in anything other than shorts... so this is genuinely a big deal. So, what's the deal with the shorts anyway?

According to royal expert William Hanson:

"It’s a very English thing to dress a young boy in shorts. Trousers are for older boys and men, whereas shorts on young boys is one of those silent class markers that we have in England.

"Although times are (slowly) changing, a pair of trousers on a young boy is considered quite middle class – quite suburban. And no self-respecting aristocrat or royal would want to be considered suburban. Even the Duchess of Cambridge."

So basically, our little prince is all grown up!
