According to People, Kaplan cited irreconcilable differences in the documents and claimed that they separated on April 24, 2017. The actress, who played Rebekah Mikaelson on Vampire Diaries, filed a response via her attorney days later. The publication reports that she says the couple separated on April 27, three days after Kaplan alleged they split. The star, who took her former husband's last name when they tied the knot, also requested in the documents that her name be restored.
