What we know about the Barry Keoghan cheating allegations

Barry Keoghan has been accused of cheating on singer Sabrina Carpenter

Earlier this month, reports claimed the couple had gone their separate ways after Keoghan allegedly cheated on the Espresso singer.

An insider told People that the pair ended things to focus on their careers.

"They are both young and career-focused, so they've decided to take a break," the source said.

However, cheating allegations soon surfaced online after the news broke.

Keoghan was hit with waves of backlash and intense abuse from Carpetner's fans, but the actor has since broken his silence.

Not only did he speak out about the claims, but he also urged the public to be respectful after many people crossed a line.

In a statement on X, Keoghan said his name has been dragged across the internet.

He said "too many lines have been crossed" and has deactivated his own Instagram account because of the abuse.

"The messages I have received no person should ever have to read them. Absolute lies, hatred, disgusting commentary about my appearance, character, how I am as a parent and every other inhumane thing you can imagine."

"Dragging my character and everything I worked extremely hard for and stand for. Talking about how I was a heroine baby and how I grew up and dragging my dear mother into it also. Knocking on my grannies door. Sitting outside my baby boys house intimidating them. That's crossing a line."

"Each and every day I work harder to push myself on every level to be the healthiest and strongest person for that boy. I want to provide opportunities for him to learn, fail and grow. I want him to be able to look up to his daddy, to have full trust in me and know I will have his back no matter what."

He said his son Brando will have to read all of the rumours about him when he's older.

Keoghan was accused of having an affair with influencer Breckie Hill.

She also shut down the claims and said she has never even met Barry Keoghan.

"To put it simply for you all, no I did not get with Barry. I have never even encountered this man in my life. The only time I’ve seen him is on my TV screen from watching Saltburn."

The allegations started to circulate online because she reposted a video claiming she was "homewrecking" the actor's relationship.

"I’m sorry, but if I really was the one getting with Barry why in the world would I be reposting that," she added.

She also said she has been cheated on in the past and would never put Sabrina through that.

"Coming from someone who has been cheated on in several relationships, I would never want to home wreck any relationship or put any girl through that pain. Ever. Ever."

Sabrina Carpenter has not yet addressed the split or the allegations.

Carpenter and the Saltburn actor were together for around the year before they broke up this December.
