Wild Youth are among the hopeful few competing to represent Ireland in this year’s Eurovision

It may only be the second week of 2023 but that doesn't mean we can't start celebrating Eurovision yet. Ireland's bid for Eurovision 2023 officially launched today and has unveiled six acts who are competing against each other to perform their song on the main stage. And one of these acts is someone we're all quite familiar with - it's Wild Youth. Hoping to represent Ireland in Liverpool this May at the 67th Eurovision Song Contest, they will be performing on The Late Late Show on Friday, February 3rd, where the winner will be announced. The person going ahead will be chosen by a combination of National Jury, International Jury, and Public vote. If you don't know already, Wild Youth is a four-piece band from Dublin who have had their fair share of hits and toured with Niall Horan, Lewis Capaldi and Westlife just to name a few. With sold-out tours of the UK and Ireland under their belt, band member Conor O’Donohoe has also written music with the likes of Moncrief and The Script, so they're not doing to shabby. Their single We are One for this year's Eurovision was written alongside Grammy nominated songwriter Jörgen Elofsson, with Wild Youth saying: "We are so delighted to be here. Eurovision is something we have always loved and would love to represent our country. We hope that everyone loves the song that we’ve written and believe we can be the band to represent Ireland this year." Other Eurovision hopefuls include Too Good for Your Love by ADGY, Midnight Summer Night by CONNOLLY, Wild by Leila Jane, Down in the Rain by K Muni & ND and Hawaii by Public Image Limited. Speaking about the upcoming Eurovision hopefuls, Michael Kealy, RTÉ Eurovision Head of Delegation, said: "I am really impressed by the quality and standard of the six acts we have in our Eurosong final this year. "The Eurovision Song Contest is a global phenomenon, and the competition is getting harder every year, but whichever of our six finalists gets to represent Ireland in Liverpool in May I've no doubt they will represent us brilliantly, winning new fans all over the world."
