‘Sick of each other’ – Zayn Malik has explained why he actually left One Direction

Zayn Malik has finally revealed why he left One Direction.

Zayn Malik decided to step away from the band in March 2015 after suffering from stress. The singer wanted to take some time out of the spotlight after being catapulted to fame in 2010. At the time of his exit, the singer said he wants to live as a "normal 22-year-old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight". He said he had no issues with his bandmates but has since revealed that they became "sick of one another". During an interview on the Call Her Daddy podcast, Malik revealed they had gotten completely sick of one another. "I was like, ‘I’m just going to get out of here, I think this is done. I completely selfishly wanted to be the first person to go and make my own record." We’d got sick of each other if I’m being completely honest." "We had been together nearly every day for five years. We were close and got to do crazy things together which no one else in the world will ever understand," he added. Years after leaving the band, Malik admitted he never wanted to be part of it. He told Apple Music, "I think I always wanted to go, from like the first year" and "I never really wanted to be there, like in the band. I just gave it a go because it was there at the time ... I instantly realized it wasn't for me because I realized I couldn't put any input in."
