John Tuohy, from Dublin City Council Waste Management Department, said: “We are always glad to see and encourage community initiatives that help keep Dublin city and all its wonderful resources litter free and ready for people to enjoy."

He went on: "We’re pleased to be able to help Deliveroo with this community effort and hope it is a great success and gets the community participation and support it deserves.”
Arabella Jenkins from Deliveroo added: “These moments when we get together with friends and family are special and deserve amazing food and drink to go with them, but it’s equally important to safeguard the local environment and play our part in ensuring we keep the Grand Canal clean.
"We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dublin City Council, who have supported our efforts by collecting all rubbish collected on the day."
