Japan Airlines released the new tool to allow passengers to identify seats that will be occupied by infants and toddlers aged between eight days and two years. While this new addition to their booking system has been praised by childless people the world over on Twitter, don't worry if you are a parent - because they've thought of us too. The airline offers several different benefits for those travelling with young children including buggy rental, priority boarding, bottle making facilities and baby changing facilities. Personally, and speaking as a parent, I wouldn't mind if more airlines did this as it just makes things less awkward for everyone. Babies cry on planes, it happens. My one-year-old was distraught on our flight back from Portugal last year and I was mortified and kept apologising to the people beside me. They were very nice about it but others would be put out about it. Technology like this just means people who aren't kid people can simply avoid that whole situation. And if your child does become upset, whoever is sitting beside them might have found out ahead of time that they were, in fact, going to be sitting beside a baby. Best case scenario?Thank you, @JAL_Official_jp for warnings me about where babies plan to scream and yell during a 13 hour trip. This really ought to be mandatory across the board.
Please take note, @qatarairways: I had 3 screaming babies next to me on my JFK-DOH flight two weeks ago. pic.twitter.com/kQYQFIqqCD — Rahat Ahmed ✈️ Tokyo (@dequinix) September 24, 2019
