It doesn’t look like we’ll be getting a white Christmas this year

Cross it off the 2022 bucket list.

Bad news for anyone hoping to see some snow this Christmas as it's looking unlikely for the country in the weeks leading up to December 25th. Snow has been hitting parts of the UK over the last number of days as the temperature plummets as many saw it as a sign that a white Christmas could be on the horizon for Ireland. Despite some frost and patchy ice developing over the last few days, conditions are set to stay mild with Met Éireann not anticipating snow making its way over to the country in the next few weeks. Forecasting that these mild conditions will continue well into December, we can officially start crossing off a white Christmas on our hopes for 2022. While mild conditions are predicted to stay for the next month, this week is set to be less than that as "unsettled" with heavy rain hitting most days. Cloud will increase in the southeast towards evening with rain develop there later. Highest temperatures of 7 to 11 degrees, in mostly moderate southwesterly breezes." Wednesday is set to be a blustery one with sunny spells and scattered showers, but also the chance of hail and thunder, with Met Éireann saying: "Showers will persist across Atlantic counties with long clearer spells elsewhere. Outbreaks of rain will develop in western areas before dawn. Lowest temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees, in moderate, occasionally fresh southerly winds. Thursday will be "rather wet and windy with spells of rain tracking eastwards through the day. Scattered showers following from the west. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees in fresh to strong south to southwest winds." "Blustery with clear spells and scattered showers through the night. Lowest temperatures of 4 to 6 degrees in moderate to fresh southwesterly winds," the forecaster said of Friday. "Breezy on Friday with outbreaks of rain spreading from the west and south. Highest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees in moderate to fresh southerly winds."
