Emma Hannigan urges the Irish public to support cancer research

Emma Hannigan is asking that the Irish public to spare just €4 and make a donation to cancer research.

The mum-of-two revealed last week that she doesn't have long to live after her battle against cancer. She has bravely fought cancer ten times since she found out that she carried the BrCa1 gene, which increased her risk of developing ovarian and breast cancer, in 2006. She revealed the heartbreaking news in an open letter to her fans on her Facebook page and website. Since then, she has requested the Irish public to donate through a special text line to help the cancer research teams find a cure for the disease. In the post, on her website, she said:

"Hello lovely people! I can’t begin to thank you all for the gorgeous comments and kind messages. Each one helps me & my family during this hideous time. But if you’d like to make a difference to cancer care & help create new cures I’d love it if you could text CURE to 50300 That will cost you €4 but I promise it will help. Without new drugs I wouldn’t have had the last 10 years with my family and you guys. Breast Cancer Ireland would be so grateful. I’m an ambassador for them but I haven’t been well enough to do much. So I’ve felt as useful as a chocolate teapot in truth. So maybe you could help me transform from teapot to cash. Thanks (CURE to 50300) Love & light Emma (moo) xx"
