Gardaí in Cork are investigating the death of an 88 year old woman

The Gardaí have begun an investigation after an 88-year-old woman was found dead at her home in Co Cork. According to The Irish Examiner, her body was found in 'unusual circumstances' at her home in Ardrostig, Bishopstown. Her body has been left at the scene and a post-mortem will be carried out later today. Gardaí are hoping that the post-mortem will establish the cause of death and indicate if a further investigation is needed. Gardaí have released the following statement:

"Gardaí in Bishopstown, Co. Cork are investigating the sudden death of a female (88 yrs) who was found in her home on Tuesday evening, 13th March, 2018 at Ardrostig, Bishopstown, Co. Cork. The womans body remains at the scene and a PM will take place later today. The PM will dictate the course of the investigation."
