"Gardaí are investigating a sudden death of a man (age unknown) on Carrauntoohil mountain in Kerry at approximately 12 midday today (Saturday 11 May 2019). The man appears to have fallen, no other person was involved."RTÉ News has reported that the man was an Irish hill walker and that he fell a considerable distance. Members of Kerry Mountain Rescue Team responded once the alarm was raised, and the Coast Guard helicopter based at Shannon also attended the scene, but was unable to access the area where the man fell. Members of the mountain rescue team have made it to the scene of the fall by foot and they will stretcher the man's body down the mountain. It will then be taken to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee for a post-mortem examination.
