Another Irish primary school gets online threat related to terrifying ‘clown craze’

It started in America, spread to the UK and now it appears to have made its way to Ireland. Earlier this week, clowns armed with fake chainsaws arrived at a school in Blackrock, Co. Dublin. Although they have since said it was a mistake and they got lost while promoting a Halloween event, it has left people on edge. Today, reports have emerged of a threat made online that a clown would be going to Holy Trinity College in Cookstown this Friday. According to Belfast Live, staff contacted the PSNI who then released a statement on the matter. A spokesperson for the PSNI said:

"School received information that a clown would be at the school on Friday afternoon, October 14, and informed police. The school closed gates themselves. Police will be paying attention to the area".

This isn't the first time clown threats have been made in Northern Ireland as messages targeting schools in Coleraine and Ballymoney have also appeared on social media in recent days.
