Met Éireann say temperatures are going to drop to -4 degrees over the weekend

It's time to start really wrapping up.

Met Éireann has predicted that it's going to be quite a cold weekend, with temperatures dropping to -4 degrees. While today will be mostly dry and sunny, the weather will become unsettled from tomorrow night onward. As for today, the weather forecaster said:

"Dry in most areas today, with sunny spells, but a few scattered showers will occur, mainly in eastern and northwestern coastal areas. "Tonight will be mainly dry, with clear intervals, but very cold, with widespread frost and a risk of icy patches. Minimum temperatures minus 2 to plus 2 Celsius. As winds slacken, fog patches will develop, with the risk of some dense pockets."

Tomorrow, fog and frost from previous days will lift but it will still be "very cold."

"Saturday, will be mainly dry at first, with frost and fog clearing gradually. Cloud will increase from the Atlantic, with patchy rain and drizzle developing, mainly in parts of the west and northwest. Very cold, with maximum temperatures of 4 to 8 Celsius, in light northwesterly or variable breezes. "Changeable and unsettled weather from Saturday night onwards. Very cold at first, with below normal temperatures and with a risk of frost at night.

Sunday we're going to see the worst of it with fog and icy patches. Sunday night will be when we'll see temps drop to the lowest they've been in months.

"A few scattered showers will occur along northern and eastern coasts. Cold, with maximum temperatures of 6 to 9 Celsius, in mostly moderate northerly breezes, fresh on exposed coasts. "Sunday night will be mainly dry and clear, but very cold and frosty, with a risk of icy patches. Mist and fog patches also. Minimum temperatures 0 to -4 Celsius."
