A follow-up tweet confirmed that Ulster, Connacht and Munster would be worst affected by the scattered wintery showers. It said, "Frost & icy patches in many areas this morning. Today will be cold & breezy with sunny spells & sctd. wintry showers, mainly in Ulster, Connacht and west Munster, but also parts of north Leinster and the midlands. The east and southeast will be mainly dry. "There'll be spells of sunshine today with scattered wintry showers. Some showers will be heavy, leading to accumulations of snow on mountains and at times to lower levels. The showers will be most frequent in the north and west and down through the midlands. They'll become isolated in the evening. Northwest winds will be moderate to fresh and gusty and temperatures will be between 3 and 5 degrees at best."
