Met Éireann issues orange weather warning for two counties

UPDATE at 11.30:

Met Éirean has upgraded the weather warning for Tipperary and Waterford.

The status orange rainfall warning is valid from 3 pm on Wednesday until 6 pm on Thursday. The national forecaster says:

"Heavy rain during the period will cause spot flooding. Accumulations in excess of 50mm possible in some parts".

The status yellow rainfall warning for Kilkenny, Wexford and Cork is also valid from Wednesday at 3 pm until Thursday at 6 pm. Met Éireann has predicted that we're in for an awful day today with heavy rain and flooding predicted all over the country. However, there is also a weather warning in place for five counties. The weather forecaster issued a Status Yellow rain warning for Kilkenny, Wexford, Cork, Tipperary and Waterford. The warning will be in place until tomorrow afternoon. It said: "From early hours of Wednesday to noon on Thursday, spells of heavy rain at times will give amounts of 30 to 50 mm with a risk of spot flooding." Meanwhile, there will be heavy outbreaks of rain covering the rest of the country today and temperatures will remain around the 10 degrees mark. "Today will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain over much of the country. The rain will be heaviest over Munster and east Lenister with a risk of spot flooding. Highest temperatures 9 to 11 degrees with moderate to fresh southerly winds, becoming strong and gusty in coastal areas of Leinster."

Tonight and tomorrow is unfortunately looking much the same. "Thursday will be a mostly cloudy day with scattered outbreaks of rain, some heavy and prolonged falls across the south and east. Southeast winds will moderate through the day and become generally easterly. Highest temperatures of 7 to 9 degrees."
