Woman reveals how an orgasm left her permanently paralysed

Lucinda Allen was having sex with her husband when she suffered a stroke which led to a coma and paralysis.

The 38-year-old mother from Stourbridge in the West Midlands, was 6 months pregnant at the time of the incident five years ago. After orgasming during sex, she suffered an excruciating headache which led to her hospitalisation. Lucinda had experienced post-sex headaches for most of her life, they would normally go away within a few minutes but on this occasion, the pain persisted, and her husband rushed her to the emergency room. According to The Sun, the mom-to-be was placed in a medically-induced coma in order to let her brain breathe, it turns out she had suffered a series of strokes which led to a brain haemorrhage and permanent paralysis down her left side. There were fears at the time for her unborn child, but luckily tests revealed the baby was in no danger, and Lucinda gave birth to a healthy baby girl when she emerged from her coma. Five years on, she's still confined to a wheelchair and she hopes to raise awareness about the dangers of headaches associated with sex;  

“Nobody talks about post-orgasm head-pain and that’s understandable. But, because of what’s happened to me, I am now on a mission to raise awareness of how this pain can be a warning sign of impending brain haemorrhage"

Lucinda hopes that stem cell therapy could one day help her regain some of her movement, her neurosurgeon Alessandro Palazzo assured her that there was no need to worry about it happening again in the future, but women should be aware of this issue:

“Although Lucinda’s condition is very unusual in that it presented in pregnancy and caused a bleed inside the brain, people who suffer from HSA (headache associated with sexual activity) should be aware that the headache could be the sign of an underlying condition".
